How to Develop a Successful Mobile App with Minimal Risk

How Long to Charge Portable Device Charger?

2020 has been a challenging year, but despite this, it has brought a few improvements to UI and UX services. It has set trends in mobile app design, which should be taken into consideration if you want to create an app that will get five stars in app stores. To ensure you keep up with these trends, we have created a comprehensive guide. Here, you will learn about the most powerful ideas for your mobile app and get useful insights.
  1. Voice search

This type of search has been trending over the last few years. 2020 is not an exception.. Google was among the pioneers. It integrated the feature in the Google Maps application, making the search process easier and safer for drivers. Voice search is great from different points of view. First of all, it improves accessibility. Not everyone can easily type a request in the search bar. Misspellings might affect the results, as well as any sort of typos. Voice search solves this problem. Besides, voice-enabled search allows you to stand out from the crowd. Instead of boring pop-ups that ask to grant microphone access, you can experiment with design ideas. For example, make the voice search feature more informative by explaining what users can do if they enable microphone access. If your app is a shop or online marketplace, your users will also enjoy the voice-enabled search, as they no longer need to browse through the layers of the menu. Just make sure that the microphone button is not easy to touch accidentally. Nothing is more annoying than the voice search turning on  accidentally.

2. Dark mode

Creating a dark version for your app is a must in 2020. People are constantly asking the developers to add dark mode to the existing apps. And each time this feature is enabled, it becomes big news. Many popular apps meet your phone settings in terms of dark mode. This means that you can enable dark/night mode on your device, and you do not need to switch on anything else. Many notepads and text editors also allow you to work in dark mode — for example, Google Docs or Microsoft OneNote. Your users are likely to enjoy this feature because the dark mode is known for reducing eye strain and making an application more comfortable to use at night. However, high-contrast night mode is not usually the best solution, as some people may experience the opposite effect. Besides, Apple encourages people to use dark mode, so it may become even more popular in the nearest future.

3. Onboarding and Customization

Instead of asking people to create an account, or do any other interactions straight after downloading the app, comfort them with some pleasant onboarding. Provide as much info about the benefits of your app as possible. But do not forget about usability — do not overload it with text. Swipeable intros can be a really good solution. You can show the key features of your app, as well as info about the latest updates. If your app needs info about the user (height, weight, goals, shopping preferences, etc.), the pleasant intro is also an option. You can allow your users to customize the app to their taste. Let them choose a color scheme, background image, or any other features that can be changed. People love adding a bit of personal touch. Nevertheless, if there are lots of features that users can customize, it is better not to ask them to do so during onboarding. You need to find the right balance.

4. Login without Password

It is daunting and sometimes even irritating to use a password to log in every time, especially if your app is supposed to be used every day. Password-less logins in applications are just booming. For example, this model is used by Facebook where you can log in once and then just simply click on your profile picture next time. Also, a lot of mobile banking applications are using biometric authentication. You can opt for sign-in links or other possible ways to make the life of your users easier. They will thank you for sure.

5. Improved Notification Requests

If you want to engage more with your users, add a unique approach to some features that are usually overlooked. For example, think about push notification requests. They used to be pretty basic, but app designers are now trying to make them more personal. Move away from classic notification messages, as your users have seen them dozens of times. Design the notification that will reflect the style and the idea of your app. Maybe, you can add animation or a short friendly message that will encourage your users to not only allow push notification but also do it with a smile. These little details will create a better user experience and help your product stand out from hundreds of apps that are not so friendly.

In conclusion

Remember that the devil is always in the details. This is particularly true for mobile apps, as UI/UX design is crucial for their success. Mobile design is still based on hundreds of small features. Ensure that your users will find the app convenient to use, and this will be your key to success. We hope that our guide on 2020 trends was useful. We wish you good luck since creating an outstanding application may be challenging (yet exciting).
